Beyond research and reporting skills, writing about architecture for years helped me understand the relationship between design and storytelling. Eventually, my architectural writing led to a position with an architecture / design firm. My job involved working with clients to help them articulate their brands, and translating their positioning into priorities for the architects designing the space.

Because of what I've learned working with architects and designers, I approach every brand-related decision as a design problem – every solution represents an intentional choice that either supports or detracts from the brand, a choice that either reinforces the story or undermines it.
